I was pretty miffed that I missed Selfridges launch of the new Ray-Ban Colorize Wayfarers at the beginning of March.  I was on a press trip at a spa hotel in Barcelona at the time, so really shouldn’t complain.  But still, I felt left out!  So I popped into the exhibition at London Oxford Street store on Saturday to see what I missed.  The Selfridges Ultralounge on the lower-ground floor features an ongoing Ray-Ban exhibition that’s open to all – do go and see it if you’re hitting Oxford Street anytime soon.
What’s the deal?  This is an exhibition featuring ten guitars which have been customised by different music and design talents.  New Young Pony Club, Glasvegas and PPQ are just some of the artists/designers who have ‘Colourized’ their own Fender guitars.
What can you buy?  For those still not happy with the hundreds of Ray-Ban colours on offer, you can do a DIY with the Colorize kit.  It comes complete with a pair of iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarers, permanent marker pens, paints and stencils so that you can customise your sunglasses with whatever doodles you fancy.  Pretty clever really.
Final note: the chandelier made from Ray-Ban Wayfarers was a definite highlight!
