So what did I pick up at my appointment? I guess you spied the dungarees! I headed into the Kingston store with them in my sights although was fully aware that dungarees can easily look like an ill-fitting boilersuit if not carefully executed. What was I even worrying about because the moment I slipped into JoJo Maman Bebe’s black maternity dungarees I felt an instant spring in my step. First of all, they’re comfy. No rigid, restrictive denim here, only super soft and stretchy cotton, with all the utilitarian and practical charm we’ve come to expect from a dungaree. There’s pockets, straps and adjustable buttons on both sides allowing for bump growth spurts. I always have to roll up my denim a bit and like that look but you could have them altered if you’re on the shorter side, they look great with my Vans Old Skool’s or slides, comfy tees and cute blouses underneath.
When I visited my local store there’d been a big drop of new Autumn/Winter 2018 product and the colour palette was really spot on for the cosy season. I have my eye on a khaki 2-in-1 padded parker coat with a faux fur hood for the chillier weather and in the meantime, the selection of striped tops jumped out at me for their goes-with-everything autumn potential. Suitable for nine months of pregnancy and beyond, I went for the grey drop shoulder maternity and nursing top that’s cleverly cut so it’s long and roomy enough for bump-coverage now, with buttoned shoulder access ensuring it’s also nursing-friendly once baby arrives. I tried on a few nursing bras, specifically needing something ideal for sleeping in. Right now I’m avoiding drop down bras because I know I’ll be living in them when baby comes along and instead found a gem in JoJo’s pull on cotton crossover front sleep bras. Just enough support to be able to wear under relaxed t-shirts during the daytime and the crossover nursing access is perfect for night feeds and my hospital stay too.
I can’t remember an occasion when I stepped into a JoJo store without leaving with something for Hector or a friend who’s having a baby. Case in point these beautiful wooden pocket dinosaurs and toasty fox slipper socks. Small, packable toys like these are always a win because you can grab a handful for the changing bag or suitcase when you’re out and about and travelling. Hector loves anything with lots of different pieces and these are just beautiful. They come in a cute box with a handle too, which he loves carrying around the house! The slipper socks were a great find because they’ve got a special non-slip sole, perfect for wooden floors and tiles. Plus he can’t pull them off easily meaning warm feet for longer and there’s matching fox PJ’s. (Going on his Christmas list!)
Back to that goody bag you’ll receive when you head in store for a VIP appointment (with purchase, while stocks last). Want to know what’s inside? Of course you do! To start, let’s just appreciate the purple bag, perfect for all of your mama belongings, it cleverly clips onto the handlebar of your pram with press stud straps. Inside there’s a JoJo Maman Bebe red spotty changing mat with compartments for nappies and wipes. A reusable Pukka tea/coffee cup and Pukka Motherkind teabags – the morning coffee run, sorted! Mum balms from Mama Mio, Neal’s Yard and Bloom and Blossom to tackle the stretch marks and any pregnancy skin woes.
